Portals Docs

The Bible for the Portals editor — how the app works, how things really function, and what you can do with your own hands and mouse. Everything here is also machine-readable: the whole docs tree can be dropped into any LLM’s context (via llms.txt or the AI toolbar chat) so it can answer questions about the app with the same depth a human gets.

Structure

The docs are two layers, and they never fight each other:

Getting started

New here? Start with the guided tour, then the concept that makes Portals different: Containers & auto-layout. When you’re ready to animate, Motion is the second half of every artboard — and the Agents page explains the persona, skills, memory, and attachments that shape every surface.

Contributing

  • Reference pages: don’t edit by hand — they’re generated from the code.
  • Guide pages: keep the voice — concept-first, concrete examples, physical gestures (“click here, drag there”), never jargon walls.
